WELCOME
Glance Back
was founded in Chepstow as a retail shop, based on a combination of
our hobbies and interests during 1980. Our collection grew like 'topsy'
and we moved to our present larger location in the centre of Chepstow
in 1983, with 8 of our rooms open to the public. Greg & Lee
had a great deal of pleasure serving customers, many of whom have become
lifelong friends.

built up to a stock of some 90,000
Books on every conceivable subject.
Glance Back
was not just a bookshop for the browser, bibliophile, student or serious
reader. We also carried a huge range of Antiquarian Prints on all
sorts of subjects and views; complimenting our
large stock of Antiquarian Maps from the early maps of
Jansen, Blaeu, Kitchen, Speed, Saxton & Kip through to the decorative
county, regional and world maps of the late 1800s, and the more
modern O/S type maps.
Our
stock of PostCards is a selected stock of eminently
collectible items priced from single figures upwards; as with our stock of some 29 volumes of BankNotes and well
over 30,000 collectible Coins including Gold & Silver items of all
periods from around the world.
Our stock of Tokens from the merchant Tokens
of the 1600s to the town change and trade Tokens of later years is
extensive.
Glance Back
has always had a very varied stock of World Stamps from packets for
beginners through album leaves and the occasional collection to specialist
sets and single items.
Glance Back
has always had a comprehensive Military section with a large stock
of British CapBadges & also a good selection of British War
Medals, with a selection, if somewhat less extensive, of Medals
& CapBadges from the rest of the world.
Glance Back
has always tried to make shopping, for gifts for children, parents and
friends, varied and entertaining and when shopping for oneself either as a
collector or just an enthusiast we have always tried to introduce general interest.
Glance Back's
aim has been to make sure your visit was enjoyable and informative with
many other items on display from a 1700s Long Case Clock, a large
collection of Chepstow collectibles including stone jars &
Crest Ware, Bottles & Pamphlets. We have many similar
items for sale from other areas too!
Glance Back,
with great regret and optimistic trepidation, finally closed its doors to
the public on 31st. October 2004. We are now moving towards establishing a
growing presence on the internet.
